Cumbria Local Nature Recovery Strategy Consultation

Overview

The Cumbria Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) has been drafted for public consultation and includes priorities for biodiversity, potential measures (otherwise known as actions) and mapping of nature recovery opportunities.

The LNRS is made up of two parts: the Statement of Biodiversity Priorities and the Local Habitat Map, which will help show areas where taking action for nature will have the most positive impact. The two parts have been produced so that they work closely together and should be used collectively when informing decision-making. 

The Cumbria LNRS is one of 48 strategy areas in England that are required by the Environment Act (2021) to prepare a Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for their area, in line with The Environment (Local Nature Recovery Strategies) (Procedure) Regulations 2023 and the Local Nature Recovery Strategy Statutory Guidance. We are inviting you to have your say on the draft Cumbria LNRS by completing this survey as part of the public consultation. We will review all feedback to ensure that the final strategy is truly locally relevant and realistic, however amendments to the content of LNRS must continue to follow a data and evidence led approach. Everyone’s voice matters. Take part and provide your feedback and input.

Guide to completing this survey:

1. Prepare: Review the Statement of Biodiversity Priorities and the Local Habitat Map.
    
2. Respond: Complete the survey. When answering the questions, please refer to the strategy as needed and use the maps for context.
    
3. Submit: Please submit your answers by completing the survey online.
    
4. Review: The team will review all responses to the consultation and consider them for inclusion within the strategy in line with selected criteria. A consultation response will be published on the Cumbria LNRS website.
