Earnse Bay Community Space

Closed 1 Aug 2024

Opened 18 Jul 2024

Overview

A new, inclusive community space focused on the outdoors will be created at Earnse Bay, on Walney Island, to connect local communities to open spaces, nature, and education. The intention is to co-produce the space with our communities and partners to build on local skills and interests and ensure the space works for all.

Whilst many individuals and groups have already contributed a wealth of ideas during previous rounds of engagement, we want to build upon those suggestions to ensure we maximise the offer this outdoor space brings to our communities and partners alike.

We want to develop the scheme further so that it truly reflects community feedback and focuses on the beautiful outdoor space, and the many benefits this can bring.

The development of the Earnse Project has been made possible through a partnership between Westmorland and Furness Council, Natural England, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Art Gene courtesy of the funding secured through the Brilliant Barrow Town Deal, Defra, and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The survey will be open until 1 August 2024. For more information or to request an alternative format please contact kelly.alty@cumberland.gov.uk
